Staying physically active is just one small piece of the puzzle when it comes to being healthy and creating wellness. If you really want to go for a full revamp of your physical, mental, and emotional health, focus on other areas like what you’re eating, the media you’re consuming, who you’re hanging out with, and so on.
So yes, take that walk or go to that workout class (we will never advise against that), but know that there is so much more to health than exercise. Keep reading for three of our favorite daily activities to get you motivated and ensure you’re feeling your best in all areas of your life!
Hydrate before you caffeinate.
There is nothing better than a fresh cup of coffee in the morning … but be sure to grab a glass of water first! While coffee is effective for waking you up and getting your mind right for the day, a glass of water is exactly what your dehydrated body is craving after a night of sleep.
If you’re not a fan of drinking water, don’t worry. There are plenty of ways to spruce it up! Lots of people like to drink hot water with lemon first thing in the morning. This has some great benefits, including a jump start to your metabolism, glowing skin, and an immune system boost. Add some honey for extra nutrients and maybe some apple cider vinegar (if you’re feeling brave) to turn this into a morning detox drink!
Challenge yourself.
Challenging yourself daily to get better in various aspects of life is the best way to avoid staying stagnant. The growth in your life stops when you get comfortable being where you’re at, so try to do something new every single day. Here are a few ideas:
- Strike up a conversation with someone new at work.
- Learn a new language (Duolingo™ is a resource that makes it easy!).
- Go out to eat alone.
- Try to go a whole day without eating meat (it’s harder than you might think!).
Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is awkward and unnatural at first, but over time, you may find that you crave that new feeling.
Clean up your house.
It’s amazing how much easier it is to get things done when you have a clean space—it’s almost like getting rid of physical messes can make your mindset a bit clearer. Taking the time to organize and deep clean your home seems tedious, but this is one simple way to avoid stress and give yourself the freedom to fully enjoy your space.
Try making a habit of doing just a bit of cleaning every day!
